Members' Day

Our annual Members' Day is a fantastic opportunity for students to hear from expert speakers followed by a talk and tea at the House of Lords, as well as a tour of Parliament itself.

TEAM Global’s Members’ Day, now established for 25 years, was created in line with our vision:

To promote an understanding and discussion of world affairs, which empowers young people to be active global citizens and to aspire to leadership roles within their communities. Member's Day is an annual event where we offer our partners the exclusive opportunity to visit iconic buildings that are central to our democracy. This includes guided tours of key institutions such as The Supreme Court, Congress House (Headquarters of the Trade Union Congress), the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Westminster Cathedral, The House of Lords, and The House of Commons.

Previous Member's Days have provided unique opportunities to visit embassies and key institutions while engaging in insightful briefings on global and political issues. Highlights include visits to the U.S. Embassy in 2007, the French Embassy in 2008, and the Canadian High Commission in 2009, with briefings on topics ranging from international diplomacy to climate change. Each year featured a tea party at the House of Lords, hosted by prominent figures like Lord Watson and Lord Kinnock.

In 2012, a visit to the UK Supreme Court included a briefing by Lady Hale. Other notable visits include the German Embassy in 2011, the Turkish Embassy in 2012, and the Spanish and Irish Embassies in 2018. Topics covered ranged from EU relations to climate action and human rights, as seen in 2019’s focus on the International Court of Justice and Extinction Rebellion. The 2022 event included a tour of the UK Supreme Court and the Houses of Parliament.

“The insightful talk at The Supreme Court, learning about unions at the TUC and realising the importance of having a political opinion will allow me to give a confident and meaningful vote to the party that aligns with my views the most.”
