Who We Are

TEAM Global (The European Atlantic Movement) is an independent, non-party-political educational foundation. Founded over in 1958, TEAM’s vision is to promote an understanding and discussion of world affairs, which empowers young people to be active global citizens and to aspire to leadership roles within their communities.

Executive Committee

TEAM is run by volunteers from educational, business, professional and international backgrounds. We each use our skills in different areas such as organising conferences, study tours, CPD events and fundraising. Laurence Smy

Position/Role

Laurence is a graduate in History and Theology of the University of Cambridge. He became the Headmaster of Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School in Marlow. Subsequently he worked for UCAS and was director of United Westminster Schools. He is currently a working member of The Council of Christian-Muslim Relations (CCMR), High Wycombe and contributes to seminars at the Middle East Studies Centre in Oxford. He is a member of several think-tanks including The Global Policy Institute and the Wyndham Place Charlemagne Trust.

Chris Poray

Executive Committee Member

Chris has been a member of TEAM's Executive Committee since December 2019. He is a recent graduate from the University of East Anglia in International Relations and Modern History (Hons) and incoming MSc Economics and International Relations student at UEA. He was the Project Manager in a nationwide marketing campaign across the top universities in the UK, expanding The Times Top 100 Graduate Employer Guide reach to over 8000 students. Since being a part of TEAM's Brussels Study Tour and Member's Day in 2018 he has been involved in the charity. 

Dirk Hazell

Dirk is the leader of the UK European People’s Party. 

Michael Ghirelli

Executive Committee Member

As a teacher of Geography in schools and colleges, Mike worked to give young citizens an understanding of humanity’s involvement in its planetary home. Now retired, he works to see younger generations thinking critically and positively about peoples living in harmony with each other and sustainably in their environment.

Maureen Ghirelli

Executive Committee Member

Maureen works as an Organisation Coach, and became involved with TEAM through a study tour to Brussels. Her primary interests are workplace community and belonging, social justice, environment and climate, healthcare, spirituality, and the interconnectivity between these. She has a BSc in Agriculture.

Kevin McSharry

Conference Organiser

Kevin served 42 years in Secondary Education, latterly as the Head teacher of a large Catholic High School in north-west London. His passions are history, travel (recently went to Brazil) and international relations

John Wilson

Conference Organiser

John has an MA in International Relations from the University of Southern California. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, he taught first in Iowa and then became history and economics teacher at the American School in London. John now runs an outreach program sponsored by the American School of London speaking to schools and community groups on American history and politics.

Graeme Titmas

Treasurer

Graeme was the Finance Director for a fine food company and formerly the company secretary and financial controller for a listed company.

Antony Frost

Vice-Chairman

Antony has run a successful business in the horticultural industry and joined TEAM because of his lifelong interest in world affairs. He holds a degree from the University of London, was a parliamentary candidate in 1999 and is a member of numerous think-tanks including: The Federal Trust, The Global Policy Institute, The Wyndham Place Charlemagne Trust and Unlock Democracy. He has organised numerous study tours, in the course of which, he has worked closely with leaders of Brussels Lobby groups and senior personnel in the European Union.

Dr. Daryl Kenny

Executive Committee Member

Dr. Daryl Kenny is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Winchester. 

He worked as a police officer in Canada and the UK for over thirty years and is interested in international studies particularly around policing and criminal justice matters. He became involved with TEAM after attending one of their study tours to Brussels.
